Costa Blanca’s tourism board has launched a campaign to highlight Alicante’s attractions as a “pet friendly” destination. The objective is to help local tourist businesses ensure that visitors bringing their pets can enjoy holiday experiences that are adapted to their needs.
According to the board, more than 20 Alicante province municipalities have expressed an interest in becoming involved in the initiative, which will comprise a “Costa Blanca Pet Friendly” seal of approval for those establishments and areas that provide exclusive zones for pets, adapted parks, nature routes and spaces with access, dog beaches, and accommodation amenities that allow pets to stay with their owners.
Noting that this specialised form of tourism was gaining popularity in the market, tourism board president Carlos Mazón said, “We want to focus attention on this segment to help and encourage the market through a seal that allows visitors and agencies to locate services specifically designed for their pets.”
