The number of flights in the first 11 months of the year totalled 93,408, 11.1 per cent more than at the same time in 2022.
New Enhanced Airport Welcome
The one million passenger milestone coincided with the installation of new large-format signage welcoming passengers arriving at the terminal by land and heading to the check-in desk.
According to airport operator Aena, “The new design of the west façade includes the airport logo together with branding and signage elements in line with Aena’s visual identity, in a format covering a surface area of 1,380 square metres.
“The airport’s name has always been present on the façade, which can be seen from the airfield, so in addition to being a decorative element it also had the function of signalling to travellers their point of departure or arrival. With the new signage, this function is enhanced and the image of the airport is reinforced.”
As part of this improvement initiative at the airport, Aena also plans to install two “photocall” set-ups: one in the check-in area and the other on the arrivals floor. These will feature tourism images of Alicante province “so that passengers passing through the airport can immortalise their journey and share it on social networks”.
A “solidarity desk” that Aena makes available to NGOs wanting to undertake awareness campaigns and help social causes has also been redesigned and improved in terms of image.
In addition, the airport is expanding its children’s play areas to improve the transit experience for young travellers and their adult companions. The current three zones with playgrounds will be increased to eight, distributed in different areas: one in arrivals, three in boarding, two in baggage reclaim, one in car rental and another in check-in, next to the information desk.
Finally, in the coming months work is due to begin on painting a large-scale artistic mural that will be visible from the airfield and is intended to provide “a differentiating element to the airport site”.
