Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández Airport will be offering a multitude of new international routes this summer holiday season, operated by Europe’s major airlines.
The peak holiday season officially begins on 1 April and continues until October but new services are already being launched this month (March), linking the Costa Blanca getaway with the U.K., Norway, Switzerland, Germany and Ireland.

Ryanair
Ryanair leads the way for this summer with 89 routes in total, and the low-cost airline also plans to base three new aircraft in Alicante (16 in total) by summer 2024.
Its summer holiday schedule includes nine new destinations: Münster (from 31 March), Barcelona, Norwich and Sofia (1 April), Zagreb (1 April), Rzeszow (2 April), Cardiff (4 May), Budapest and Lisbon (starting dates to be confirmed).
EasyJet
The other main low-cost operator at Alicante-Elche Airport is also significantly boosting its schedule for this summer, to a total of 20 routes. EasyJet, which plans to open a base at the airport this spring, has announced 10 new routes: Birmingham (from 19 March), Southampton and Zürich (31 March), Nantes and Prague (1 April), Newcastle (2 April), Lille (1 May), Belfast City (2 May), Lyon (4 May) and Nice (5 May).
In February, EasyJet celebrated carrying more than five million passengers to and from Birmingham Airport.
AirBaltic
At the end of February, Air Baltic launched a new twice-weekly service linking Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández Airport with Riga in Latvia. The route is serviced by an Airbus A220-300 with capacity for 148 passengers. The flights will continue on Tuesdays and Saturdays until 31 March, then be re-scheduled on Mondays and Fridays until the end of October.
Finnair
Finnair plans to operate three weekly flights between Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández Airport and Helsinki Airport during the 2024 summer season: every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 4 April – aboard one of its Airbus A320.
These links will also facilitate connections between Alicante and the main Asian cities where the airline operates – Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya (Japan), Shanghai (China), Bangkok (Thailand) and Seoul (Korea) – as well as other destinations in the rest of Finland.
Jet2.com
Jet2.com and Jet2holidays are offering additional services linking Manchester and Alicante-Elche Airports from 26 May to 31 October – on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. From 28 March they are also launching up to four weekly services (Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays) from Liverpool John Lennon Airport.
In addition, they have expanded their capacity on flights to Alicante-Elche from Edinburgh Airport in November and from Glasgow Airport in October and November.
KLM
Part of the Air France holding group, KLM has not yet announced details of its summer services but in the meantime the airline has extended its winter schedule between Alicante-Elche Airport and Amsterdam-Schiphol until 31 March.
Norwegian
Four new weekly or twice-weekly services to Alicante-Elche Airport are planned by Norwegian: Aarhus (from 31 March), Munich (also 31 March), Växjö (2 May) and Billund (22 June).
SAS
SAS is boosting capacity on flights from Denmark to its regular customers’ most popular beach holiday destinations, including the Costa Blanca. The airline plans to operate up to 17 flights to Alicante from Oslo this summer season.
Vueling
Spanish airline Vueling has re-launched two routes to Algeria from its operations base at Alicante-Elche Airport. Already operating since February, the services include twice-weekly flights to Algiers on Wednesdays and Sundays, and a weekly flight to Oran on Thursdays.
Wizz Air
A new service linking Alicante-Elche and Roma Fiumicino Airports is scheduled to be launched by Wizz Air on 1 April, and the airline also plans to offer flights to Gdańsk and Katowice this summer (dates to be confirmed).
