A new express parking area has opened at Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández Airport for arriving passengers.
Located in front of the façade of the terminal building on the arrivals floor, the car park comprises 23 spaces, two of which are reserved for people with reduced mobility (PRM), and the first 10 minutes of the stay are free of charge. The new area complements the airport’s existing express parking near the departures terminal.
According to Aena (the national airports operator), the objective of the new facility is to allow drivers picking up passengers to stop quickly and safely in a place where parking was previously not permitted. “This initiative is also intended to improve circulation on roads that serve the area. For longer stays it is recommended that people use the general parking.”
The arrivals express parking area has two entry and two exit barriers. The latter can be opened by displaying the ticket obtained on arrival over the QR code reader, without having to get out of the vehicle. If the 10 minutes of free stay is exceeded, the amount due can be paid at the same exit barrier by credit card or by using the ATM machine located in the parking area.
The two express parking areas now offer a total of 106 spaces, including nine reserved for PRM.
