Alicante has been included among the 10 most romantic destinations in Spain for a Valentine’s Day getaway. In the lead up to 14 February, holiday rentals search portal Holidu analysed a total of 57 Spanish cities to determine which ones are the most appealing for a memorable romantic getaway.
While conceding that cities such as Rome, Paris and Venice might be the first ones to come to mind when most couples are planning a Valentine’s Day holiday, Holidu noted that Spain was also home to many enchanting locations.
“Love and romance have forged our history and identity, so much so that we can see this reflected in countless corners in all the towns and cities of Spain. Among them we discovered which ones are the candidates to become authentic capitals of love.”
Toledo in Castilla La Mancha (central Spain) headed their top-10 list, followed by Salamanca and Granada, while Alicante was seventh.
Referring to the gateway to the Costa Blanca, Holidu said, “If you want to surprise the person you love most on Valentine’s Day, Alicante is the perfect city to make that surprise unforgettable.
